I’m looking to join a book club for women in their 20s in fort lauderdale does anyone know where I can find a listing of whats already out there or available.
There is a website called MeetUp.com that you can find groups for anything from books to comic collectors in your area that you can "meet up" with.
A quick search for a Ft. Lauderdale zip code brought this up…
http://www.meetup.com/search/?keywords=books&country=us&locationPickerRef=0&dbCo=&dbOutsideUsLink=&zip=33301++%09&submitButton=Search
and if you don’t want to leave the house you can join an internet book club on goodreads.com

How do i get my book read and recommended or reviewed by book clubs? Also where can i get a list of bookclubs?
Check libraries around your hometown, and ask them if they host book clubs. Put your town, state, and "book club" into google to see what comes up. Once you find book clubs, I’m sure they would be happy to review your book if you provide them with free copies and offer to have some sort of "Q&A with the author" after they are finished reading it.

We are all women, in our 20’s and 30’s. We read all different kinds of books. We meet every six weeks. We live in the midwest. I can’t think of any other distictions at the moment.
How about these:
"Bookworms"
"The Word Munchers"
"The Biblio Babes"
Good luck!

The book is ‘the devil and miss prym’. It’s spiritual fiction by Paulo Coelho. How should we start the discussion as it’s online.
I didn’t really attend a book club before. Give me a hand….
You might want to start at Yahoo Groups. You can start a book discussion group there for free. It could be just for that one book or for books in general. Here’s a link with more info on Yahoo Groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/start After you set up a group you can invite your friends to join.
Good luck with your book group!

I’m trying to put the finishing touches on a reading club book list. We are featuring memoirs, biographies and autobiographies of notable women. Because of the nature of the book club, the content cannot be too controversial. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
I don’t know about your age group, but I recommend "J.K. Rowling" by Bradley Steffens. It tells the fascinating and inspiring story of the woman behind the Harry Potter series. It is written for young adults, but will interest adults as well. You can read more about it here: http://www.ibnalhaytham.net/product_details.em?product_id=898091 and read a review at the bottom of this page: http://www.ibnalhaytham.net/custom.em?pid=673868

A little about us!
We are based in Geelong, Australia,
We are a new book club,
Mixed gender & nationality.
Something better than "The Geelong Book Club" would be good! Could be an acronym, funny, clever, witty, maybe use society/group instead of club??
Suggestions please!
The BookaGeeples Book Club
or,
The GeeBookers Book Club
or maybe,
GeeWeReadAlot Book Club

I’m in AP Language and Composition (11th grader) and we had to split into groups for a book club. Each member of the group has to bring a couple suggestions about what book to read this semester, but I’m having a problem thinking of a good book to suggest that will interest everyone in my group.
I like romance, realistic fiction, sci-fi, action, historical fiction… a variety really. I REALLY want to read another by Jodi Picoult but another member in my group HATES depressing books.
Rebekah.. the one who hates depressing books.. loves mythology and action/adventure books. Thrillers would be good for her.
Derek is similar to me in book choices, and my other group member Zach said he’ll read anything- but I don’t want to make him or Derek read anything too girly… and its not like Rebekah is into that anyway.
Suggestions for some universally good books? If you can’t think of something that fits all requirements, just list your favorite books. Anything to get some idea flowing would be great!!
A heartfelt book is Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. A more morbid one is Lucky by Alice Sebold, a memior of her rape. Maybe not very appropriate for school…but a suggestion. it has group-led questions at the end of it.
The Color Purple
Animal Farm
Lord of the Flies
To kill a mockingbird
Catcher in the Rye
Try Nicholas Sparks?

like a different/fun way of exchanging gifts.
How about this:
Everyone brings/buys 1 or 2 wrapped books as gifts. All the wrapped books are put into a pile, and everyone forms a circle. Go around the circle and have each person pick one present at a time until they are all gone. (After everyone has a pile/couple of gifts, you can add a round where people can trade with one another).
After everyone is settled on their wrapped gifts, have everyone open them one at a time by going around the circle.
I have done this for years at Christmas with my friends, since we always throw a "White Elephant" party. Everyone always seems to have a lot of fun!
Of course, add some refreshments and snacks to it all, and you have a fun little party on your hands!
