Author: admin  //  Category: book clubs online

I want one that sends you chapters through e-mail. I would also like it if it let you pick out the book you wanted to recieve. Thanks. :D

you dont pick the book but you pick the genre and stuff. it sends the first couple of chapters to you. it even lets you know what page it stops at so if you buy it, you’ll know where your at.

Do you know of any online book clubs?

Author: admin  //  Category: book clubs online

Im wanting to join a book club, but I’m also going to school, working, and I’m a wife and mommy of two young girls so time isn’t something that I have. Are there any online that are free to join?
Thanks you in advance…

Good Reads isn’t exactly a book club persay, but it’s nice and helpful. You can keep track of all of your read books, books you are reading (along with the page number) and make different "shelves" for your either favorite or ones you like the least, or just whatever you want.

You can join groups on there, and read book reviews for every imaginable book. They also have contests to get free books before they are even released yet, and book quizzes.

You can add friends, make a "to-read" book list, and much more.

So I hope this is kinda what you are looking for, I love it.

Book club suggestions?

Author: admin  //  Category: book club suggestions

I’m creating a book club with a group of 7 or so other women, all in our 20’s. We’re going to be meeting next week for the first time. What are some great books that we would enjoy reading and discussing? I’m open to any ideas, just please don’t say Twilight!

Try these:

Fantasy:
Neil Gaiman is an amazing author! Any of his books are good. Try Neverwhere, or Stardust.

The Sight and Fell by David Clement-Davies

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien

Mystery/Thriller/Horror/Action:
Edgar Allen Poe is a really good author. Check out his poems and short stories.

The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray or Poison by Chris Wooding

The Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) by Garth Nix

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Romance:
William Shakespeare is good for romance, but he has written many comedies and tragedies too.

Anything by Jane Austen would be a great choice for romance.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

How To Kill A Rock Star by Tiffanie Debartolo

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

Classics:
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Do I have a chance of getting into Vassar or Brown University?

Author: admin  //  Category: childrens book club

Right now I’m a senior

freshman year i got a 3.6 gpa and took four honors classes and one regular class

sophmore year i took 3 honor classes and three regular and a 2.8 gpa

junior i took 2 1/2 honors classes, 2 ap classes and two regular with a 3.8 gpa

senior year i am taking four ap classes and two honors and i’m getting a 3.8 so far

i got a 32 on the act
and i am a merit scholar

i have been in the animal care league, chemistry club, enviormental club, tau gamma(helping out kids after school), childrens clinic, summer program at college, two years of being on the tennis team, helped out at hospital and has two poems published in school books, and in the science fair.

I’m not sure, but to be honest, I don’t think so. I thought Ivy League schools were only looking for student with a straight 4.0 average who are in leadership programs, not just involved in extracurricular. I’ve never made below a 3.8 and the idea of me getting into Vassar or Brown is laughable — the competition is just ridiculous nowadays. But like they say, never stop trying; it could come down to your admissions essay and your SAT scores.

With 11 1/2 Honors classes and 6 APs in four years (that’s an average of 4+ advanced classes every year!), your weighted GPA and class rank plus the ACT score will make you very competitive at a lot of "good" schools. A more specific answer would depend on what you call a good school, what you’d like to study in college, and what non-academic things will be important to you at college.
